Thank you so much for your interest in submitting content to One Hitched Lane! We appreciate your time and support and look forward to seeing your work!
When selecting work for publication, we look for clean, simple imagery with a consistent style (very important!), and minimal post-processing. We appreciate that every photographer has their own unique style, but we generally gravitate towards natural, light-filled photographs, shot with an editorial or fine art approach. Your carefully curated submissions that tell a genuine love story set our hearts on fire!! Oh, and we absolutely ADORE film!
We are happy to consider all wedding related submissions for the blog, including engagement shoots, anniversary sessions, styled shoots*, bridal sessions, showers, rehearsal dinners, and more.
*We ask that all styled shoots include a minimum of 3 wedding industry professionals.
Due to the volume of engagement sessions, we are accepting a limited number at this time. In general, with engagement sessions in particular, we are constantly on the hunt for sessions that showcase unique styles or great fashion, creative incorporation of props, themes, colors, etc. Basically, anything that makes a bride say, “I want to do THAT for my engagement session!” When submitting an engagement session for possible publication, please include 25-50 images for us to review.
Photographers: Please select 75-150 (max) images, telling the story of the day. We love detail-laden submissions. Please include images of the bride (including personal style elements and fashion), the groom, the wedding party (fashion details, etc.), the flowers, centerpieces, decor and design elements, stationery (including invitations, if possible), favors, and more. It is vital to the flow of the feature that the submission provides a complete “picture” of the wedding… ‘getting ready’ shots, ceremony shots, reception area shots, and overall venue shots are important components of this. As a general rule, we do not need a ton of dancing images or guest images, as these do not resonate with our brides. Please also be sure and include a detailed description of the day (inspiration behind the day, any DIY elements, direct content from the bride, etc.), along with the couple’s names and contact info, wedding date and location, and any involved vendor’s information (names and websites). We cannot accept images less than 600 pixels wide (for both horizontals and verticals) or images with watermarks. We tend to feature far more vertical images than horizontal… if possible, please include a good selection of these.
A note on black and white imagery: color is a big part of our aesthetic on One Hitched Lane. As such, we primarily feature color imagery. If you would like to submit images in black and white for consideration, please always include the color option for us to choose from (unless, of course, it was shot with B&W film… did we mention how much we LOVE film?!).
Brides: We are thrilled you want to share your BIG DAY with us! Please ask your photographer to do the above. Thank you and a HUGE congratulations to you!
How to Submit: Our preferred method for receiving and reviewing submissions is via Two Bright Lights*. If you need an alternative submission method, you can send us a few of your favorite images from the day via Dropbox (to firstname.lastname@example.org) with a brief description of the day. You may also email us directly at email@example.com with a link to an online gallery or personal blog feature for consideration. We will be in touch with you shortly with our thoughts (and the next step in the submission process if we believe it is a good fit).
*When submitting imagery via Two Bight Lights, simply upload your full high-resolution image files, submit, and we’ll take care of the rest (i.e. no need to worry about re-sizing)! If you have any questions about this or the submission process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
***Important note: We strive to publish fresh, unique content for our brides and therefore place a priority on exclusive submissions. Please let us know in advance if you have submitted this work elsewhere (your personal blog is perfectly fine).
THANK YOU for sharing your art with us!
